Linda K. Wienke
1944 - 2008

Former Enterprise columnist Linda Wienke died Feb. 2 in Stonham, Colo. She was 63 years old.

A service will be held Friday, Feb. 8 at 10:30 a.m. at the Chaney-Reager Funeral Home in Sterling, Colo.

She was born March 28, 1944 in Giles, Mich. to Kenneth A. and Mildred Coons. Linda attended schools in Niles and in Tavares, Fla. She married Warren Wienke on Jan. 15, 1965 in Niles. They raised four children.

The Wienkes moved to Colorado, and lived in the McCoy area for several years. She wrote community news for a popular column in the Enterprise. The family eventually moved to the eastern plains of Colorado.

Linda had varied skills, and she mastered jobs ranging from courthouse microfilming to high end sales. She had a reputation for being the best cook on the Eastern Slope. Linda was also a talented artist, writer and homemaker. She passed those skills on to her children.

Survivors include her husband, Warren of Stoneham; daughters Tammy Johnson and husband Brian of Wyoming, Mich., Sandra Madsen and husband Dallas of Wray, Colo., and Penny Lewis of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and son Kenneth Wienke and wife Kelli of Greeley. She is also survived by a sister, Patricia Bishop of Niles, Mich., six grandchildren and four nieces.
