Longtime Routt County resident Joseph Edward “Joe” McPherson died of natural causes July 28, 2012, at his home in Oak Creek after a long bout with adult onset Multiple Sclerosis. Joe was 55.
Joe was born Sept. 4, 1956, in Grove City, Penn., the son of Irene Kovach McPherson and James H. McPherson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Pamela McPherson.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Joe moved to the Colorado high country following high school in Pennsylvania. Joe worked as a contractor for Montana Log Homes of Colorado.
Joe is survived by a son, Jacob Jesse McPherson, of Cheyenne, Wyo. He also is survived by three brothers and two sisters: James A. McPherson, of Prospect, Penn., Patricia McPherson, of New Hampshire, Susan Glavan, of Slippery Rock, Penn., Tom McPherson, of Slippery Rock, Penn., and Dave McPherson, of Steamboat Springs.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. The family has requested that last names starting with A through H bring appetizers, I through P bring salads and Q through Z bring desserts.
