Edwin J. Belding, 1924--2001.
Edwin J. BELDING, 76, passed away April 8, 2001, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Glenwood Springs on Sept. 25, 1924, to Ralph E. and Mary BELDING.
Mr. BELDING was raised and attended schools in Eagle. He later attended college at Colorado State University. He flew combat missions in Italy during World War II and, after successful ventures in other fields, returned to flying - as flight instructor, corporate pilot and airline captain. He retired from Rocky Mountain Airways in 1983. In 1944, while serving in the U.S. Air Force, he met and married Jean VANDIVER at Columbia, S.C., on Nov. 11, 1944. He will be remembered by his wife of 55 years; children, William E. (Robbin) BELDING and Marily Altenbach (Barry); grandchildren, Chris ALTENBACH, Michael and Michele BELDING and Tracy CURTIS and one great-grandson, Scott ALTENBACH. There are many additional relatives and, most of all, friends who will also mourn his passing. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 12 with the Rev. James BIMBI officiating, at Adrian Comer Garden Chapel, 2710 N. Elizabeth in Pueblo, Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens. In lieu of food and flowers, family respectfully requests any donation to be made to the charity of your choice.
