James F. "Fred" SWANSON, 31, of Omro, Wisconsin, died on Tuesday April 17, as the result of an airplane accident. Fred was born in Glenwood Springs, on July 24, 1969, a son of Frederic and Joyce Phillips SWANSON. He married Jennifer KAUFMANN on June 6, 1992 in Oshkosh.
Fred served in the U.S. Coast Guard and Air National Guard. He was employed as a pilot and Director of Maintenance at Basler Turbo Conversions. He was an active member of Wyldwood Baptists Church, and a Deacon at the church in charge of missions. Fred was involved in the missions aviation program, and played in the church orchestra. He loved flying and was a part time flight instructor, and enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, and bike riding with his children.
Survivors include his wife Jennifer, and their two children, Jessica and Jordan, of Omro; his father Frederic SWANSON, Oshkosh; three sisters, Leslie (Peter) DAVIS, Greenville, SC; Sylvia (Jim) MEAD, Atlanta, GA; Greta (Rodney) DUTY, Chicago, IL; mother and father-in-law Thomas and Myrna KAUFMANN, Oshkosh; Jennifer's grandparents Harvey and Bernice POTRATZ, brother-in-law Jeff (Jenny) KAUFMANN; Jonathan KAUFMANN; and Calvin KAUFMANN, all of Oshkosh; two sisters-in-law Angela (Nathan) FOSTER, BLoomington, IL; Amy (Daniel) HELM, Oshkosh; a high school foreign exchange student from Fors, Sweden, residing with his family, Kajsa JONSON; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his aunt and uncle Ella and Ira BINDLEY of Eagle.
Funeral services were held at Wyldwood Baptist Church Friday, April 20. A memorial fund has been established in James Fred's name at Fox Valley Savings Bank, 1700 W. 20th Ave. in Oshkosh, WI 54902.
