Jack Lee DAVIS of Gypsum died April 20 at the age of 61. DAVIS was born on Aug. 12, 1934 in Grand Junction, son of Harry Dale DAVIS and Helen Katherine BARBOUR.
DAVIS was an awesome father and a "forever buddy," according to his family, who said he was a dedicated friend to anyone he came into contact with. He was devoted to his family, especially his children, and actively involved in the Rimrock 4H and the Eagle County Fair Board. He had several grand champion steers together with his son. He was also an avid elk hunter. He was a perfectionist when it came to construction and very committed to the task at hand. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his smile.
He is survived by two sons, Terry DAVIS (Tori) and Jeremy DAVIS (Delcie), both of Gypsum, and one daughter, Teddy JAMES (Isaac) of Hysperia, California; one brother, William DAVIS (Mary Sue) of LaJolla, Calif.; and one sister, Helen LYON (Stanly) of Aurora. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
His family said the memory of his love and smile will live on in the hearts and minds of his family, his friends and everyone he touched.
Services were held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Gypsum on Tuesday, April 24. He was buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Gypsum.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund through any Alpine Bank has been set up for Jack. The money will go to help the 4-H steer program.
