A former Steamboat Springs resident who founded Tuck Communication Services in Steamboat and grew the company to serve much of western Colorado died Saturday night in Grand Junction. Sandra Park said her son-in-law, Brent Tuck, 37, was skateboarding with his 13-year-old son outside their Grand Junction home when he fell and hit his head. She said he died instantly. “It was just a freak accident,” Park said. According to Tuck’s Facebook page, he had been married to Donna Tuck since 1999. They had four children. The three oldest, Jeremy, 13, Hannah, 11, and Adam, 8, were born in Steamboat, Park said. They also had a 7-year-old daughter named Bethany. “Brent was the smartest, sweetest man that I’ve ever known,” Park said. “One of his greatest pleasures in life was traveling with his children. He spent as much time with his children as he could.” According to Tuck’s Facebook page, he started Tuck Communication Services in 2003 in Steamboat. The company has clients that include dozens of businesses, municipalities and hospitals. The Steamboat Pilot & Today was among Tuck Communication Services' clients. Tuck was president and chief executive officer of the company, which is headquartered in Grand Junction but also has offices in Steamboat, Montrose and Glenwood Springs. “He’s got a very impressive client base, and he did it all himself,” Park said. On his Facebook page, Tuck had written, “I find that true happiness and success in life comes to you naturally by simply working hard, doing the right things and helping others whenever possible.” In addition to being a loving father, Park said, Tuck loved to travel, snowboard and skateboard, which he had been doing since he was 12. Tuck also enjoyed playing the guitar and liked a variety of music. “He went to concerts all over the country,” Park said. Growing up, Tuck thought he was going to be a rock star. Park said that in high school, Tuck gave a friend an autograph and told the friend to hold onto it because he was going to be famous one day. A memorial service has been scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at the Callahan-Edfast Funeral Home in Grand Junction. A reception will follow at the Tuck home.
