Arthur Irvin Williams died Tuesday, May 12 in Glenwood Springs. He was 89.
Arthur was born to Frederick J. and Loretta Williams on Aug. 7, 1902 in Ft. Calhoun, Neb. He married Elizabeth "Lucy" King on Oct. 9, 1939 in Leadville, and was employed as a fireman for the railroad for many years.
He had lived in Glenwood Springs since 1968, moving from New Castle. He also lived in Wyoming, California, Snyder, Colo. prior to moving to the Western Slope. He also lived and worked in Eagle, Pitkin and Garfield counties. His residence was on Four Mile Road in Glenwood Springs.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed yard work, gardening, watching baseball, and playing pinochle and cards, as well as being with his family and friends.
Survivors are: his wife, Lucy E. Williams of Glenwood Sprints; daughters Judith Davis of Glenwood Springs, and Mary Hansen of Grass Valley, Calif; grandchildren Nellie Kuersten of Glenwood Springs, David Davis of Carbondale, Doug Davis of New Castle, Lori Kindall of Meeker, Cynthia Hansen of Tacoma, Wash., Penny Hansen of Grass Valley, Calif., and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 14 in Minturn at the Riverview Cedmetery. Dr. Charles Pastor will officiate at 3 p.m. Farnum-Holt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
