Joan E. Sorensen, 51, a Vail Valley resident since 1992, passed away Friday. She was born on Feb. 20, 1962, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Robert Sorensen and Sharon Ann (Walling) Jepsen.
Joan served her country and state in the Air National Guard of Iowa. She was a human resources professional and was active in the Eagle Valley Humane Society. She enjoyed hiking with her dog Hank.
Joan is survived by her father, Robert Sorensen, of Sioux City; and her brother, Shane Sorensen, of Avon. She was preceded in death by her mother.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Eagle Valley Humane Society, 65 Market St., Eagle, CO 81631.
