Louis Epi Garcia, 70, passed away on June 5, when cancer defeated him. There was no long-term suffering as he died shortly after the diagnosis.

He was born in Embudo, N.M., in 1943. He lived most of his life in Minturn and Eagle then he ended up in Grand Junction. He married Esther Griego in 1960 and married Lorraine Rodarte in 1964. He worked at CMI back in the ’70s and ’80s building radar guns for the police departments, and when the company closed down he worked in the maintenance department for a condo complex in Avon.

Louis acquired a lot of friends during the years as he was a very friendly and charming man. He loved to dance, play his guitar and cars. He embraced his relationship with God and read his Bible frequently the last several years of his life.

He is survived by his five children, Louise Garcia Carter, Bernadette Garcia Duran, Daniel Garcia, Darrell Garcia and Terryl Garcia; 12 grandchildren, Carissa, Francine, Michael, Evangline, Angel, Jacob, Ashley, Niko, Christopher, Shane, Cassandra and Trabeca; and seven great-grandchildren, Niko, Carolina, Malayna, Queiden, Aaliyha, Armando and Gynessa. Louis is also survived by two brothers Roger and Elbert and four sisters, Rose, Joan, Gloria and Debbie.

The Garcia family will have a quiet, simple memorial. It’s what Louis wanted.

Dad, Grandpa, Brother, friend, you will be missed. Rest in peace.
