Lee Robert Willits, 84, of Basalt, passed away July 3, 2007.
He was born Dec. 3, 1922 in Glenwood Springs to Bram[b]let and Dorothy Willits.
He lived on Willits Lalne all of his life. WIllits Lane, once Route 1, was changed in the '70s and renamed after the Willits family.
Lee married Donna Rowley Dec. 7, 1968, in Aspen.
Lee was a member of the Good Fellows since the age of 18. He loved animals and would read five books per week even up to his death. He knew much history about the Roaring Fork Valley.
Lee was a kind man loved by everyone.
Lee is survived by his wife; sons Lloyd (Gena) and Robert (Sherri); grandsons Seth and Ethan, and granddaughters Morgan, Aubrey, and Lexie.
A rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, at St. Vincent Church in Basalt. A mass will follow at 10 a.m. and burial at Fairview Cemetery in Basalt.
The family asks, in lieu of flowers and in honor of Lee, to please purchase a tree in Lee Willits' name, from Eagle Crest Nursery in Basalt.
