Edith Evelyn Wilson was born
April 19, 1923, to Walter and Ada
(Brock) Maynard in Beloit, Kansas.
After graduating high school in
B e l o i t , E d i t h a t t e n d e d
Brown-Mackie School of Business
in Salina, Kansas, where she
met her life’s love, Kenneth Wilson.
They were married June 22,
1943, and in 1944, moved to Colorado, residing in Leadville, Ri fle,
Palisade, and Grand Junction.
Edith was employed at the State Home and Training School, where
she retired as administrative secretary in 1983.
She loved to travel, and would have been perfectly content li ving
out of her suitcase. He other passions were church functions, camping,
hiking, playing games, and “girl time” with her daughter, Joannie.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; h er eldest
son, Ronnie; grandson, Jason, and her husband of 64 years,
Kenneth.
She is survived by her daughter, Joannie (Steven) Barbee of Grand
Junction; her son, Kent (Lois) Wilson of Antlers, OK; grandson,
Wayne Wilson, also of OK, and honorary daughter, Claudia Anixter
of Scottsdale, AZ.
Edith had an unwavering love and trust of her Savior and looke d
forward to the Great Reunion with loved ones.
A service honoring the end of Edith’s earthly life, and a cel ebration
of the beginning of her eternal life will be held Friday, February
8 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ, 2893 Patterson Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Hospice & Palli ative
Care of Western Colorado, or the local chapter of the Alzheimer ’s
Association are greatly appreciated.
