Mary Jo Prudhomme passed
away February 6, 2013, at Eagle
Ridge of the Grand Valley.
Born March 2, 1922, in Kearney,
Nebraska and residing in Scottsbluff,
Nebraska as a child, her
family moved to Denver when
she was a teenager. She gradua
t e d f r o m D e n v e r E a s t H i g h
School. Mary Jo played French
horn in the school orchestra and in the Denver Junior Symphony.
She attended Denver University and was active in the Kappa Delt a
sorority for many years. She met her husband, Roy, at a dance a nd
they were married in San Antonio, Texas in 1943 while Roy was i n
the Army. Mary Jo and Roy moved to Grand Junction from Sacramento,
California in 1986, to be near family after Roy retired.
Mary Jo was a dedicated homemaker, attending to the many activities
of her children and an adept seamstress. She and Roy were socially
active in dinner-dance, country and bridge clubs, and bowling
and golf sports. She was an active volunteer for the Grand Junct ion
Symphony Guild. She made several trips to Europe with her mother,
sister, Roy or friends. Mary was an avid Denver Bronco football and
Mesa College basketball fan.
Roy passed away in May of 2012. Mary is survived by younger
sister, Sheila of Seattle WA; daughter, Cynthia of Ft. Collins, CO,
and her three daughters with one great-grandson; locally residi ng
son, Joel (Kathi; Karen Sjoberg); his daughters, Abbey and Mega n
with four great-grandsons; and locally residing youngest daught er,
Lise MacGregor.
There will be family remembrances later in 2013.
