Mrs. Wilson Died in Denver

Mrs. Alberta Wilson, widow of the late Sheriff W.M. Wilson died in Denver Sept. 28 in a Denver hospital. She was 87. Mrs. Wilson suffered a broken hip and a heart attack a few days before her death. Her home was in Eagle.

She was born in Joplin, Mo. the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Lupton, who later moved to Gypsum, Colorado.

Her father was a marshal and the family lived in numerous early day western mining camps. While the familiy lived at Creede, Miss Lupton met and married W.M. Wilson at Crestone in 1903.

Mr. Wilson's interest in mining took the couple to major mining camps in Colorado and Arizona, and they eventually returned to Gypsum where Mr. Wilson operated a store until it was destroyed by fire. He turned to ranching until the early 1920s when he became Sheriff of Eagle County, a position he held for 38 years, when he retired. He preceded his wife in death in 1961.

Services were held in the Eagle Methodist Church Oct. 1 and burial was in the Eagle cemetery.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by one son, Eldon, of Eagle.
