Robert Anthony Manzanares, 66, of Eagle, died Monday. Born Jan. 24, 1947, in Gilman, he was the son of the late Herman and Eva (Martinez) Manzanares.

Raised in Minturn, Bob was a true native and always proud of his heritage. Early in life he worked above and underground at the Gilman Mine. Years later he worked as a meat cutter for Village Market and Beasley’s Super Foods and then after 18 years of service, he retired from the town of Vail as a heavy equipment operator. Bob was well loved by family and so many lifelong friends, and he loved sharing stories of all the memories he cherished so much. His passions in life were playing his guitar and spending time with his family, and he also enjoyed getting on his Harley and taking a ride.

He is preceded in death by his father, Herman Manzanares (1978); his mother, Eva Manzanares (2003); and brother, Herman Manzanares Jr. (1973).

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Georgianna Ruth (Moore) Manzanares; along with two sons, Dan Manzanares, of Eagle, and David (Dieneka) Manzanares, of Eagle; four grandchildren, Sydney, 13, Tanner, 9, Sara, 9, and Siena, 4; three sisters, Emily Harper, of Titusville, Fla., Pauline Boyles, of Grain Valley, Mo., Dorothy Schoenke, of Sun Prairie, Wis.; and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives.

The family would appreciate any condolences to be sent to P.O. Box 410, Eagle, CO 81631.

A special thank you to all of our family, friends and neighbors for all of your thoughts, prayers and support during this difficult time. Your kindness is appreciated and will never be forgotten.
