Buddy Moberly, a lifelong resident of Colorado Springs, passed away Aug. 21, 2011, at Penrose Hospital.
Raymond Leroy Moberly was born March 31, 1943, in Colorado Springs. He was a 1961 graduate of Wasson High School and the University of Phoenix. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam War veteran.
He married Lily Hayes Montgomery on May 3, 1986, in Colorado Springs. Buddy was a member of the Colorado Hill Climb Association and Rally America. He enjoyed auto racing, hunting, fishing, golfing and the outdoors of Colorado. He had many cycling friends in Steamboat Springs.
He is survived by his wife, Lily; his son, Todd (wife Katie); grandchildren Connor and Camryn; two brothers, Marty and Rod (wife Peggy) Moberly; and his faithful companions Sara and Boo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Jeanne (Lanza) Moberly.
A memorial service was held Aug. 26, 2011, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Cremation is planned, and he will be inurned at the Shrine of Remembrance Columbarium of Freedom. Memorials in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1445 North Union Blvd., Suite 100, Colorado Springs, CO 80909.
Buddy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who always put others first. He will be best remembered for his kindness, intelligence and sweet, gentle spirit. He will be dearly missed.
