Clara M. Bunn, of Hayden, died Jan. 4 at the Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs after a brief illness. She was 81.
Clara M. Baker was born Oct. 3, 1928, in Indianapolis, one of seven children of Thomas E. and Mary B. (Phillips) Baker. She was raised and attended school in Indianapolis.
Clara moved to Colorado to work for Stearns Rogers in Denver and later met Ray Bunn, whom she married Jan. 25, 1958. Ray had a ranch south of Hayden, and they made their home there in the summer and lived in Denver in the winter. They became the parents of a son, Michael. In 1964, they moved to Hayden to live year-round.
Clara was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching and working crossword puzzles. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Hayden.
Clara is survived by her son, Michael Bunn, of Hayden; and her sisters, Nancy Baker and Rosie Ranck, both of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and her husband, Ray. A funeral was held Jan. 9 at the Hayden Congregational Church with Pastor Janet Babish officiating. The pianist was Theresa Stivers and pallbearers were Jerry, Randy and Gene Delay, Ray and Tyler Manzanares and Chris DeBowes. Honorary pallbearers were “all her family and many friends.” Interment followed in the Hayden Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association in care of Grant Mortuary.
