Carmen G. (Munden) Northrop, 88, of Hayden, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009. Carmen was born Oct. 19, 1921, in Los Angeles to Joseph and Josephine Gonzales. She attended school in Oak Creek.
In 1939, while residing in Oak Creek, she married Charles Munden II and was blessed with seven children. She was married to Charles until his passing in 1966. In 1970, Carmen married Billie Northrop, of Yampa, and moved to Hayden in 1971.
Her hobbies included canning, baking, crossword puzzles, the “word of the day” and gardening. She loved waiting for her flowers to bloom every spring and summer. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by four sons, Charles Munden III, of Englewood; Tom (Carol) Munden, of Hayden; Terry (Vickie) Munden, of Kent, Wash.; and Bradley Munden, of Aurora; two daughters, Peggy Jo (Joseph) Micaletti, of Granada Hills, Calif.; and Edna (Harvey) Torr, of Kent, Wash.; one brother, Jimmy Gonzales, of Huntsville, Ala.; four stepsons, Bill (Brenda) Northrop, of Yampa; Doug (Terry) Northrop, of Yampa; Rusty (Lisa) Northrop, of Seattle, Wash.; and Rodney (Irene) Northrop, of Fallon, Nev.; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many, many friends.
Carmen was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Charles Munden II; son Robert “Bob” Munden; two sisters, Della Johnson and Lucie Gonzales; brother Hector Gonzales; one grandson, Robert Munden Jr.; and one stepson, Ricky Northrop.
A service was held Jan. 4 at Hayden Congregational Church.
Burial was at Yampa Cemetery in Yampa.
