On Jan. 28, Ellen Feely Litzau took the next step on her journey.
The daughter of John and Nora Feely began her trip Nov. 16, 1921, in Cleveland, Ohio. She grew up in north Denver.
After graduating from Saint Catherine’s Grade School and Holy Family High School, she graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing. For more than 30 years, she cared for the sick with a passion and commitment that reflected her belief that she was ministering to Jesus’ brother or sister.
She married the love of her life, Jerome Litzau, on Nov. 22, 1944. They shared a life of incredible love, commitment, faith, caring and support. Jerome took the next step on his journey in 2003 and no doubt was there to greet her when she heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant. Welcome home.”
Ellen’s family includes daughter AnneMarie Carpenter and husband Dan; sons Al (Mary Ann), Mike (Mary Ellen), Father Rich OP, Rob (Lynne), and Jerry Jr. (Ronda); grandchildren Lisa and Sara Carpenter, Mark (Andrea), Pat (Sam), Katrina, Steve (Kara), David (Tyra), Jake (Shynia), Beth, Tim (Kelli), Andrew (Mackenzie), and Mike; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Feb. 2 at St. Catherine’s, 4200 Federal Blvd., Denver. Interment will be at Fort Logan.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Collier Hospice, 3210 Lutheran Parkway, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 or the Arvada Community Food Bank, 8555 West 57th Avenue, Arvada, CO, 80002.
