Linda Marlene Redmon McLau­­gh­­lin, a resident of Berea, Ky., died March 3, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lexington, Ky., following a brief illness. She was 60.
Linda was born Sept. 3, 1949, in Hayden, the daughter of Edward A. and Marlene Jean (Archibald) Redmon. She was raised and attended school in Craig, and graduated from Moffat County High School in 1968.
Linda married James A. McLaughlin on Feb. 14, 1998, in Westminster.
She and Jim lived in the Denver area, then in Las Vegas and Pahrump, Nev., before moving to Berea two years ago. Linda was an electronic technician in the telecommunication industry for many years.
She was an avid artist and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, quilting, ceramics, gardening, fishing and camping. Her favorite camping and fishing site was at Steamboat Lake.
Linda was a very loving, caring and giving person. She was interested in so many things that her family called her a collector of hobbies.
Linda had a major interest in Disney characters, her favorite being Show White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Linda belonged to an organization called Stitches from the Heart, wherein she made baby blankets and supplied them to a local hospital for premature infants.
She also was very involved in making and distributing pins for breast cancer awareness.
Linda is survived by husband, James A. McLaughlin Sr., of Berea, Ky.; daughters LeAnna Jackson, of Northglenn, Christine (Ronald) Cottrell, of Point Marion, Pa.; sons Mike Weber III, of Northglenn, James McLaughlin, of Berea, Ky., Matthew McLaughlin, of Albuquerque, N.M.; and Jeremy McLaughlin, of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren Randy, Leann, Rickay, Ronald, Daniel and Rachael; sisters Loana Dorland, of Thornton, Bonnie (David) Case, of Northglenn, and Trenna (J. D.) Reed, of Northglenn; and brother Lonnie (Linda) Redmon, of Craig.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, Edward Redmon; mother, Marlene; and her stepfather, Chester “Bud” Lawton.
A funeral was March 11, 2010, at The Grant Mortuary Chapel in Craig, with Leslie Rock officiating.
Special selections were “Every Breath You Take,” “The Time Has Come,” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Pallbearers were Mike Weber, Randy Moore, Jim McLaughlin, Chris and Lonnie and J.D. Reed. Honorary pallbearers were “All Her Family and Many Friends.”
Interment followed in the Craig Cemetery, where she was interred near her mother, Marlene, and stepfather, Bud Lawton.
