RED CLIFF MAN DIES SUDDENLY OF HEART FAILURE
Sam Wilson, for twenty-eight years a resident of Red Cliff died suddenly Friday, April 13, of heart failure. The deceased was in apparent good health that morning when he started to walk to Gilman from Red Cliff. Soon after reaching Gilman he was seized with an attack and taken to the hospital where he soon passed away.
Mr. Wilson was a nephew of the late Dr. Gilman [Gilpin], pioneer physician of Red Cliff, and was a native of Maryland. He was a man of superior education, a graduate of the school of pharmacy of the University of Maryland. He was a chemist of high degree, and when he came west over thirty years ago, took a position as chemist with the Roosevelt dam construction in Arizona and was chief powder man on that job. Mining and the west appealed to him and he had prospected all over the Rocky mountain section, and made one trip to Honduras in quest of gold since coming to Colorado.
He was an admirable gentleman and a fine companion. He was a close friend of the write for years and we have enjoyed many pleasant camping trips with him in years gone by.
His body was prepared for shipment by Mortician O.W. Meyer and sent back to Rockvale, Md., for burial. He was fifty-six years of age.
