C.S. WILTSEY A SUICIDE

When Cecil F. Wiltsey and family returned to their home on the Piney Wednesday evening after a pleasant day of celebrating the Fourth of July they were met by a grewsome [sic] sight when they entered the ranch house.

The body of Mr. Wiltsey's father, C.S. Wiltsey, who made his home with his son and family, was seen lying cold in death and in a pool of blood, across a twelve-gauge shot gun. It appeared that the old gentleman had leaned against the muzzle of the gun with is left breast, and leaning over pulled the trigger.

Sheriff Wilson was notified and he and Coroner Conway went to the scene at once. A careful examination by the officers left no theory other than plain suicide. A short note was found near the dead man, but it gave no direct reason for the act. He had been urged to accompany the family party when it started out earlier in the day but he did not care to go, saying he would rather remain at home.

A friend of the family called at the house at abut four o'clock that afternoon but could get no response to his knocking at the door, so that it is presumed that Mr. Wiltsey was dead at that time. The Wiltsys returned home around six o'clock in the evening.
