passed away at his home in Grand
Junction, Colorado on Saturday,
February 9, 2013.
Marion was born January 6,
1913, in Lawrence, Kansas, the
third son of Verne and Mary
( F o l l i g e r ) S m i t h . A f t e r h i g h
school he worked in several grocery
stores. During this time he
met Violet Stewart. On January 19, 1941, in Richmond, Missouri,
Marion and Vi were married and became lifelong companions. She
passed away in 2010.
During WWII Marion served as a Lieutenant in the Medical Administrative
Corp. and was assigned to the Medical Supply Depots
in St. Louis, Missouri and later Denver, Colorado. After the wa r he
worked for the General Service Administration, retiring in 1972. He
and Violet spent the next 25 years traveling the world over.
Survivors include his nephew, Vernon Smith and family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, Feb ruary
16, 2013, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville, Kansas.
Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, also in Waterville.
