Arthur Marion Mattivi, 86, Grand Junction, died Feb. 14,
2013, at LaVilla Grande Care Center.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday with services at
1 p.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Interment will be at New Castle
Cemetery.
Mr. Mattivi was an auto mechanic.
Survivors include one son, Darrel of Grand Junction; two daughters,
Darlene Gregory of Craig and Barbara Bolton of Clifton; one
sister, Fern Mattivi of New Castle; five grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren.

Arthur “Art” M. Mattivi, age 86,
passed away at LaVilla Grande
Care Center in Grand Junction,
Colorado on Thursday, February
14, 2013.
Art was born on July 9, 1926, in
New Castle, Colorado, the first
son of Matt and Celestina (Brunetti)
Mattivi. After high school,
he worked in his father’s gas station.
During this time, he met the
love of his life, Jewel Sidener.
They married on November 25,
1950, in Grand Valley, Colorado.
Art and Jewel spent the majority

Springs and New Castle, Color
a d o . A f t e r r e t i r e m e n t , t h e y
moved to Grand Junction.
He was never one to shy away
from work, and held many jobs
throughout this working life. He
worked as an automobile mechanic,
railway express agent, custodian, operator of gas station, and
caretaker for a local bank.
Art dearly loved his family and cherished opportunities to sp end
time with them. He was passionate about fly fishing and the New
York Yankees, and enjoyed sports, hiking, rabbit hunting, and
reading.
He is survived by his children, Darrel (Janet) Mattivi of Gra nd
Junction, CO; Darlene (Dana) Gregory of Craig, CO, and Barbara
(Don) Bolton of Grand Junction, CO, and sister, Fern Mattivi of
New Castle, CO. Art had five grandchildren, Seth (Cathy) Mattiv i,
Rebecca Mattivi, Sarah (Charlie) Beagle, Erica Gregory, and Bri an
(Tina) Gregory. He also had seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jewel; his parents; his
sisters, Irene Swope and Shirley Walker, and his brother, Virgi l
Mattivi.
The family would like to express special thanks for Art’s car e to
his dear friend, Marie Flager, and the staff of both Hospice & Palliative
Care of Western Colorado, and LaVilla Grande Care Center.
Services will be held at the Chapel of Callahan-Edfast on Monday,
February 18, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. A viewing will be held at
Callahan-Edfast from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. the same day.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Hospice & Pa lliative
Care of Western Colorado, 3090B N. 12th St., Grand Junctio n,
CO 81506.
