Eileen McDermott, 91, Grand Junction, died Nov. 11, 2012, at
her daughter’s home in Grand Junction. Visitation will be from
5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. A funeral
Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Ms. McDermott was a retired paralegal for Joseph Coleman.
Survivors include one daughter, Colleen Brown of Grand Junction;
four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Eileen McDermott
February 7, 1921 – November 11, 2012
Eileen McDermott passed away peacefully at her daughter's home
on Sunday, November 11, 2012. She was 91 years old. Eileen
was born on February 7, 1921, to Sherman and Hattie May
Shields in Beecher City, Illinois. She graduated from high school
in Decatur, Illinois and later from a business college in Illinois. She
moved to Grand Junction, Colorado with her husband, Donald Mc-
Dermott in 1951.
In her younger years, Eileen loved camping and fishing on the
Grand Mesa. She worked as a paralegal for a number of law firms ,
the last 30 years in the employment of Joseph Coleman. Eileen w as
strong and independent, working until the age of 87. She was a
member of St. Joseph's Parish and was proud of her service as a Eucharistic
Minister.
Eileen is preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and son, Darrell
and her five brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter,
Colleen Brown (Bob) and grandsons, Shawn Ahmed (Amye),
Rafai Ahmed (Jamie), Nabeel Ahmed (Lin), and Jason Perman. She
was blessed with a long life that witnessed the birth of seven
great-grandchildren.
Eileen left an indelible mark on many lives. She will be reme mbered
for her caring nature and her remarkable sense of humor.
Thank you Mom, Grandma, GG. We love you.
A viewing is scheduled for November 14, 2012 from 5 - 7:00 p. m.
at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Funeral on November 15, 2012 at
10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
