Marie Bailey, 83, Grand Junction, died June 25, 2012, at Larchwood
Inns.
Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Martin Mortuary. A service is
10 a.m. Monday at Martin Mortuary.
Ms. Bailey was a sales clerk.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; two sons, Donald of
Henderson, and Ronald of Grand Junction; two daughters, Paula
Welch of Montrose and Terry Schafer of Tulsa, Okla.; 11 grandchildren;
and 16 great-grandchildren.

Willie Marie Bailey, of Grand
Junction, Colorado, went home to
her Lord and Savior on June 25th,
2012. She was 83 years of age.

Texas, on October 11, 1928, to
Charles James and Laura Esther
(Gomer) Gallett. She spent her
childhood there and graduated
from Dalhart High School in
1947. She often spoke of the
years she played basketball and
pitched on the boys baseball team
while in school.
J u n e 1 2 , 1 9 4 9 , s h e m a r r i e d
Charles Albert Bailey and they
moved to Grand Junction where
they have resided in the family
home for 59 years. She led an active
life and kept her church and
family ties close and strong. She
was a faithful and dedicated wife
of 63 years and a devoted mother.
Her hobbies included doing puzzles, embroidery, jewelry making,
and table games with her family. The occasional camping and fishing
trips always delighted her. Over the years she has worked at
Gilbert's Market, El Palomino Hotel, KLB Printing and the Gibson
Store on North Avenue. She had a good life and has always enjoyed
her home, grandchildren and family around her.
She was the youngest child of her family and was preceded in
death by both her parents, Charles (1975) and Esther (1964), and all
her siblings, Lola Katherine Gallett (1913), Charles David Gallett
(1983), Geneva Pearl (Gallett) Payne (2004), and Lewis Grover
Gallett (1994).
She is survived by her husband, Charles, and their four children,
spouses and descendants, children, Terry Schafer of Tulsa, OK;
Paula Welch ( Jim) of Montrose, CO; twin sons, Donald Bailey
(Virgie) of Henderson, CO, and Ronald Bailey (Norma) of Grand
Junction, CO; her 11 grandchildren and their spouses, RJ and Andrea
Schafer; Charles and Elizabeth (Welch) Wagner; Jared and
Teri (Alverson) Theis; RC and Lee Ann Schafer; Daniel and Mandi
(Welch) Parkhurst; Jason and Kim Bailey; John and Jennifer Welch;
Rey and Donna Bailey; Mark and Sara Welch; Bobby Alverson, and
Jovelyn Bailey, and her 16 great-grandchildren, that lovingly called
her “GG”, Amber, Ethan, Leah, Christopher, Joshua, Mason, Evie,
Mackenzie, Tate, Faith, Samantha, Elijah, Jaxon, Jordan, Jayde, and
Charles.

husband also, and he praiseth her."
A funeral service will be held Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Martin
Mortuary, 550 North Avenue in Grand Junction, with a graveside
service to follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A visitation will
be held Sunday evening, 6 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
