Former Craig resident Ethel Frances (Cattoor) Mansfield, 84, Fort Collins,
died March 11, 2013 in Fort Collins.
Services have taken place.
Ms. Mansfield was a homemaker.
She is survived by a son, James Mansfield of Grand Junction; five daughters, Sandra
Mansfield of Craig, Susan Avila of Colorado Springs, Pamela Kregg of Denver,
Carolyn Houser of Fort Collins, and Debbie Houser of Delta; three brothers, Orville
Cattoor of Bunkerville, Nev.; Steve Cattoor of Craig, and David Cattoor of Logandale,
Wyo.; a sister Ruby Sampson of Naturita; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren
and five great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions to Childrens Hospital, either in Denver or Colorado
Springs, or Grand Junction/Clifton Hospice.

Ethel Frances (Cattoor) Mansfield was born Oct. 26, 1928, in Miles City, Mont. Her parents were Joseph and Nellie Cattoor. She was one of 14 children, and the family moved around quite a lot before finally settling in Craig. This is where she met and married James Calton Mansfield on Oct. 23, 1948. To this union five daughters and a son were born: Sandra Jean, Diana Mae, Susan Kaye, Pamela Ann, Carolyn Faye and James Ray.
Ethel enjoyed her family as it continued to grow through marriages and births. She especially enjoyed traveling with and to see other family members wherever they lived. She enjoyed reading, crafts and puzzles (whether putting them together or solving them). She only accepted two-arm hugs, not “half-hugs,” as she called them.
She was a member of the Craig and Clifton Rebekah Lodges, Clifton Eastern Star, Craig VFW Auxiliary and she was one of the pink ladies at The Memorial Hospital.
Our annual family reunions were especially enjoyable to her, for there could be anywhere from 50 to more than 100 relatives in any given year. All were and are welcome.
She was laid to rest March 16, 2013, with Merv Johnson officiating. A poem was read by her daughter Susan, a reading written by her nephew Marvin (Dwayne) Cattoor and read by her niece Patty Cattoor reflecting everything the family cherished about her, and a reading by her granddaughter Kandee Dilldine of memories from her grandchildren. Her granddaughter Chaeli Mulholland sang “Because You Love Me (Us),” and the songs “Wind Beneath My Wings” and “Momma’s Table” were played.
Her pallbearers were Michael White, Brian Avila, James Avila, Marshall Kregg, Trever Kregg and Tom Mulholland.
She is survived by her children, Sandra Mansfield, Susan (Walter) Avila, Pamela (Jerry) Kregg, Carolyn (Michael) Houser and James (Laura) Mansfield, and adopted daughter Debbie Houser; 20 grandchildren, Michael (Janice) White, Kandee (Matthew) Dilldine, Rachael (Tom) Mulholland, Cynthia LeCompte, Brian (Emily) Avila, James Avila, Marshall Kregg, Trever Kregg, Nathan Houser, Kevin Houser, Crystal (Dustin) Greenhow, Callie (Randy) Bosworth and Carolyn Sue (Tim) Parson; 15 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jennifer and Sara White, Kassandra (Eli) Vesely, Erica and Allie Dilldine, Brooklyn and Brianna Mulholland, Issabel Selznick, Levi and Lydia Greenhow, Jamie and Aspen Bosworth and Patience Parson; and five great-great-grandchildren, Ryan and Zachariah Vesely, Luis and Bryson Cornish, and Maya Duncan. .
She has three surviving brothers, Orville (Marilyn), Steve (Joyce) and David (Sue) Cattoor; one sister, Ruby Sampson; sister-in-law Jerrie Simpson and brother-in-law Charles (Beth) Mansfield; and many, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; daughter Diana; mother Nellie; father Joseph; mother-in-law Louise; father-in-law Walter; step-father-in-law Leether Redman; brothers Angie, Willard, Ray, Marvin and Joseph; sisters Geraldine, Helen, Virginia and Darlene; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Memorial donations can be sent to Children’s Hospital of Denver or Colorado Springs; or the Grand Junction/Clifton Hospice.
