Violet “Dimpy” Nettleton, 66, Grand Junction, died Feb. 14,
2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Services are pending through Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
Survivors include her husband, Jack; four sons, Jay Horrocks,
Jack Nettleton Jr., Leroy Nettleton and Matthew Scalesse; four
daughters, Julie Farley, Judy Backer, Cheryl Nettleton and Lois
Nelson; two brothers, Jesse and Roy; three sisters, Virgina, Arlene
and Lois-Jean; 80-plus foster children; 20 grandchildren; and eight
great-grandchildren.

Violet “Dimpy” Nettleton, age
66, passed away on February 14,
2013, in Grand Junction.
She was born on April 7, 1946,
to Jesse Stone and Gladys Handy
in North Haven, CT. She spent
her childhood in North Haven.
She and Nelson “Jack” Nettleton
were married in CT on December
29, 1984. He was the love of her
life. They had been friends since their childhood. They were true
soulmates, joined by the heart forever.
Dimpy enjoyed playing Bingo, knitting and sewing, cooking, and a
good yard sale. Her heart, however, belonged to her family.
Violet has been a Mesa County resident for 28 years. She was a
foster parent, nurse, and caregiver.
Vi is survived by her husband, Jack; sons, Charles “Jay” Horrocks,
Darwin Farley, and Vance Backer all of Grand Junction; Jack
Nettleton, Jr.; Leroy Nettleton, and Matthew Scalesse, all of CT;
daughters, Julie Farley and Judy Backer, both of Grand Junction ;
Lois Nelson, and Cheryl Nettleton, both of CT; more than 80
foster-children; brothers, Jesse Stone of CT, and Roy Stone of NC;
sisters, Virginia “Ginny” Minor of CT; Arlene Wrightington of PA;
Lois-Jean Woodward of CT, and Lisa Collins of Grand Junction; 20
grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in
death by children, Nancy, Kathleen, and Tammy, and siblings, Herbert,
Charles, James, Albert, Charlotte, and Sally Ann.
Services to honor Violet’s life are scheduled for Saturday, February
23, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Church with Jayelle Dolan
officiating.
