Jackie Eatherton will be remembered by her vibrant personality, her warm and sincere smile and her love and appreciation of her family and nature. She was the strength of her family and always saw the good in everyone. Jackie died May 8, 2013, at her home in Sundance, Wyo. She was 69.
As a child, her family moved to a number of different towns in several states. On Oct. 5, 1962, she met and married Jack Eatherton in Upton, Wyo., and they spent the next 50 years together practicing the age-old adage of growing deep roots to stand the test of time. In 1973, Jack and Jackie moved to Steamboat Springs and raised their two children, Eric and Traci. Jackie was instrumental in creating the success of Alpine Floral as a co-owner, an accomplished grower and a creative floral designer. She loved working with her family tending the horses and raising a flock of award-winning Suffolk sheep for the Routt County Fair.
Her hobbies included gardening, creative writing and reading, and she loved to sneak off to the back wood streams with the family to fish for brookies. Once her first grandchild was born to Traci, Jackie claimed to have found her last and favorite job title: grandma, with a total of four beautiful grandbabies between Eric and Traci.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Jack; son Eric and wife Brenda; daughter Traci; grandsons Ryan and Corbin; granddaughters Jadi and Caitlynn; brothers Jerry Stolhand and wife Lou Ann, Michael Stolhand and wife Kathy and Allen and wife Sharon; and 10 nieces and nephews.
Jackie was laid to rest at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish, Wyo. Sympathy cards can be sent to Traci and Eric Eatherton, 5100 Private Road 192, Elizabeth, CO 80107.
