On May 18, 2013, Jeffrey Scott Scheidt passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack. He was living life fully, as he always had, riding his mountain bike with his beloved wife, Tracy.
Jeff was born Sept. 17, 1961, to Bob and Sally Scheidt in Fort Morgan. After graduating from Fort Morgan High School in 1980, Jeff worked for several years for his father at Scheidt Electric. Jeff went to Colorado State University before excelling in physical therapy school at the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse, where he met his future wife, Tracy Parcheta. Tracy and Jeff were married Aug. 20, 1994, in Stillwater, Minn.
After graduation, Jeff and Tracy began their lives together in Colorado, both practicing physical therapy briefly in Colorado Springs before settling in Steamboat Springs in 1993. Jeff practiced in Steamboat and Walden for the past 20 years, first at The Center for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and then at the Yampa Valley Medical Center’s clinic in Walden.
Jeff had many diverse passions. After playing basketball and volleyball competitively as a youth, he became a triathlete in his 20s and competed on the Hawaii Ironman in 1988. Jeff was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life. He also enjoyed ranching and being outside with his family, including snow shoeing, mountain biking, camping and hiking. He had a beautiful relationship with his daughter, and he taught her to raise chickens, cook, shoot a bow and do woodworking, among many other activities.
Survivors include his wife, Tracy, and 12-year-old daughter, Macayla, of Steamboat; parents Bob and Sally Scheidt, of Fort Morgan; sister Kim Kaiser and husband, of Roxborough; and mother and father-in-law Mary and Jack Parcheta.
Jeff touched the lives of many people. As a physical therapist, many will remember his talented hands and encouragement. Patients, family and friends will treasure his quick smile and warm spirit. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at 3 p.m. May 26, 2013, in Library Hall at Bud Werner Memorial Library, with a reception to follow until 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations for Macayla’s college expenses be sent to the Jeff Scheidt Memorial Fund, care of Yampa Valley Bank, P.O.
