Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life for Charlie Gardenhire at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Steinberg Pavilion at Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp. Gardenhire, who passed away last winter, was a longtime resident of Steamboat and former executive director of Perry-Mansfield. RSVP to the Perry-Mansfield office at 970-879-7125.

Charles Franklin Gardenhire Jr. passed away March 10, 2009. He was 60.
Charlie was born to Frances and C.F. Gardenhire in Tucumcari, N.M., on Aug. 1, 1948. He was raised in Tulsa, Okla., and in Oklahoma City, where he attended John-Marshall High School. He graduated in business from the University of Oklahoma and earned his MA from Western State College in Gunnison. Charlie married Nancy Griggs in 1974 and raised two children, Jordan and Claire. He spent most of his life in Steamboat Springs before moving to San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, where he was an entrepreneur and partner in the Baja Brewing Co. His final home was Plano, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children, Jordan Gardenhire, of San Jose del Cabo, and Claire Gardenhire, of Halifax, Nova Scotia; his mother, Frances Gardenhire, of Lawton, Okla.; his niece, Laurie Gallagher, of Edmond, Okla.; his nephew, Robert Steel, of Austin, Texas; and brother-in-law Bob Mager, of Lawton.
Charlie was known for his ability to bring people together, in business and personally. Friends knew him as a joyful, mirthful man whose sense of humor put everyone at ease and drew people near.
Charlie came into the world with love, lived well and left with memories of love and joy and with friends from the world over.
A celebration of his life is at 1 p.m. today at 1613 Azurite Trail, Plano, Texas 75075.
