Sara Shelby Paulk passed away April 22, 2008, in Holly Lake Ranch, Texas. She was 89.
Sara was born Feb. 21, 1919, in Arkadelphia, Ark., to William Carter and Etta Bernice Ware. She received a bachelor's degree in chemistry and biology from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia.
Sara, who lived in Holly Lake Ranch since 1979, had worked as an administrative secretary. She attended St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church in Mineola, Texas, and was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Carter and Etta Bernice Ware; first husband James L. Shelby; son Glen Ray Paulk; sister Mary Jo Ware Bass; and brother William C. Ware Jr.
Sara is survived by her husband Glen D. Paulk of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas; son James Shelby of South Carolina; daughters Susan Hullum and her husband Don of Portland, Ore.; Jeannine Paulk Mayo and her husband Gary of Park City, Utah; Julienne Paulk Echtermeyer and her husband Jim of Arvada; and sister Emily Lake of Austin, Texas. She has nine grandchildren.
Services were held April 26, 2008, at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church in Mineola, Texas, with Rev. Thomas A. Pantle officiating. Burial was at Holly Tree Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola.
