Eva “Gerry” Niehues June 30, 1925 – November 22, 2012
Gerry was born June 30, 1925, in Hinton, OK to Lewis and Eva
Hudson. She graduated from Hydro High School in Oklahoma.
Gerry met Eldon Niehues in her senior year and they were
married October 14, 1944, just days before Eldon left for army
duty. When he returned they moved to the Grand Valley north
of Loma and there raised their three sons, Jim, Dick and Bill.
From early childhood, music was an important part of Gerry's life.
She served for 25 years as pianist and organist at the Loma Chu rch
where she also taught Sunday School classes.
Gerry was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother. She was a devoted Christian and caring friend to
many in the community.
Survivors include her husband, Eldon and her sons, Jim, Dick an d
Bill; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her brother, James Hudson.
A visitation will be Sunday, November 25, 2012, from 3 - 5:00
p.m.at the Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. The funeral service will be on
Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Loma Community Church with Pastor
Jeff Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in New Elmwood Cemetery
in Fruita, CO. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice
& Palliative Care of Western Colorado, 3090B N. 12th St.,
Grand Junction, CO 81506.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Callahan-Edf ast
Mortuary & Crematory.
