Mary Ann Wilson, a longtime resident of Eagle, Passed away surrounded by her loving family on March 26 at Vail Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Salida Nov. 14, 1935. Mary Ann and her siblings were raised on a ranch one mile west of Eagle by their mother, Angeline (Propernick) Herin, and stepfather, Marcel Herin. She graduated from Eagle County High School in 1953 and married Willard Eldon Wilson of Eagle.
Mary Ann and Willard had three children and some of their happiest memories were spent cheering on the kids in their many activities.
For more than 30 years, Mary Ann worked at the First Bank of Eagle County where she met many people and made numerous friends. She became a mainstay at the bank, working for several bank presidents who appreciated her knowledge and expertise.
Family and friends were the focus of Mary Ann's life. Her home was the center of holiday celebrations at Thanksgiving and Christmas. The family home on Broadway also became a gathering place for friends and family to congregate and view the annual Flight Days Parade. She loved entertaining and having fun. Her favorite times were frequent visits from her grandchildren who were the loves of her life.
Mary Ann loved being outdoors, sitting on her deck and having a cup of coffee with her friends. She was an avid reader. She also enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially the Broncos, Nuggets and the Rockies.
Survivors include her three children, Kent Wilson of Eagle, Tim Wilson of Dallas, Texas, and Gina (Jim) Fahrenholtz of Eagle. She is also survived by her brother, George (Betty) Smith of Grand Junction; her sister, Judy (Howard) Knott of Montrose; and sister-in-law Shirley Shelton of Grand Junction. Her grandchildren include Ashley and Austin Fahrenholtz, Ryanne (Chad) Lanker and Jordan Wilson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
As per Mary Ann's request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 5, at the Brush Creek Pavilion in Eagle.
