Robert L. Muirhead
March 13, 1934 - January 23, 2007

Former Steamboat Springs resident Robert "Bob" L. Muirhead died Jan. 23, 2007. He was 72.
Bob was born March 13, 1934, in Steamboat Springs to Florence and Ray Muirhead. He graduated from Steamboat Springs High School in 1953, and then joined the U.S. Army on Jan. 21, 1954. He was honorably discharged Jan. 20, 1956.
After his time in the U.S. Army, he worked for a short time at a gas station and then worked in a coal mine for a few years.
In 1958, Bob married Margaret E. Anderson and they had two children, Steven Robert Muirhead and Cynthia Anne Muirhead.
Bob and his family moved to Gunnison in 1966, where he worked as a Colorado drivers license examiner until he retired in 1996.
Bob loved the outdoors. He and his friends spent many hours driving the countryside, looking at the scenery and the wildlife of the area, and enjoying his life in Gunnison.
Bob had many friends. Being the driver examiner for more than 30 years, he met and knew most everyone who needed a license or identification. He loved his profession and he never forgot a name or a face.
Bob had great faith in God and his church. He devoted many hours to the First Baptist Church throughout the years.
Bob's family also was very important to him. He loved to visit his sister Dee and her husband Mel in Littleton, where they would go to Colorado Rockies games, play cards or just enjoy their time with each other.
His grandson Keanan brightened each day that he spent with him and was the most important part of his life for the past 14 years. Bob loved going to Keanan's hockey, football and baseball games. You would never see a game where Bob wasn't standing at the fence cheering on his grandson.
Bob was a devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend. His presence will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother and father, Florence and Ray Muirhead; brother, Harvey Muirhead; and son, Steven Muirhead.
He is survived by his brother, Ray Muirhead and his wife, Myra; sisters, Iris Hibert and her husband, Jack, and Delores Richmond and her husband, Melvin; daughter, Cindy Muirhead-Garnes; grandson, Keanan Garnes; and numerous nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
