Peter Anthony Heinrich passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded
by his family. He was 83 years old. Born in Grainfield, Kansas to
Gottlieb and Eva Heinrich, the family moved to Grand Junction
when Pete was three years old. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic
Schools and graduated from Grand Junction High School.
He married Betty on June 10, 1950, at
St. Joseph’s Church. They were married for 59 years before Betty
passed away in 2009. He was the manager of Safeway in the 1960’s
and belonged to The Breakfast Optimist Club. In the 1970’s, Pete
embarked on a new career as a car salesmen for Collyer Ponsford ,
when they closed he went to work for Les Shellabarger Chevrolet .
He then left the cars behind and sold RV’s for Bob Scott RV until
his retirement.
Pete loved spending time with his family at Lake Powell for many
years. Guns and Elk hunting were his passion. He and his friend ,
Lyle Prather had many successful hunts.
Pete is survived by his children, Scott (Linda) of Phoenix, AZ; Paul
of Grand Junction, and Laura (Kevin) Merritt of Glenwood Springs,
CO; brothers, Jacob of Westminster, CO; Fred (Rosie) of Northglenn,
CO; Joe (Rosie) of Whitewater, CO; sisters, Barbara Weat herspoon
of Junction City, KS; Martha Bower of Sacramento, CA;
Margaret (Byron) Parker of Carmichael, CA, and Katherine (Otto)
Heitsman of Anderson, CA. He was the proud Grandpa of six
grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty, and brother,
Art.
Services will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary for viewing and
Rosary on December 3rd from 5 - 7:00 p.m. and a Funeral Mass on
December 4th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon
will follow at Pete’s house.

Peter "Pete" Heinrich, 83, Grand Junction, died Nov. 26,
2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Visitation will be from 5 to
6 p.m. Monday, followed by a rosary at 6 p.m., at Callahan-
Edfast Mortuary. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph
Catholic Church, followed by burial in St. Anthony at Orchard
Mesa Cemetery. Mr. Heinrich was a salesman.
Survivors include two sons, Peter Scott of Phoenix and Paul
of Grand Junction; one daughter, Laura Merritt of Glenwood
Springs; three brothers, Jacob of Westminster, Joseph of
Whitewater and Fred of Northglenn; four sisters, Barbara
Weatherspoon of Junction City, Kan., Margaret Parker of Carmichael,
Calif., Katherine Heitsman of Anderson, Calif., and
Martha Bower of Sacramento, Calif.; six grandchildren; and
eight great-grandchildren.
