Donna Marie Leader died Aug. 30, 2007. She was 47.
Donna was born March 2, 1960, in Fresno, Calif., the daughter of Billy John Leader and Gladys Maxine Hall.
Donna had two younger brothers, Bill and Ron Leader. After Billy Leader walked out of their lives for good, Gladys settled in Arvada, where she remarried Cameran Dee Hall. Now with stepsister Joleen and stepbrother Kent, they stayed in Arvada until 1976, when they moved to Wheatland, Wyo.
In 1980, Donna moved to Steamboat Springs, where she remained until her death. She married James M. Burns on Sept. 21, 1985, at Anchor Way Baptist Church. Donna had many jobs, from hostess to cleaning person to assistant manager at the Yellow Front Store, finally landing at TIC in 1989, where she worked for more than 17 years. She loved the TIC family.
Donna was a master seamstress, making quilts for family and friends and a number of newborns, winning two first-place blue ribbons and one reserve grand champion for a king-size quilt at the Routt County Fair in 1998. Donna loved life, the outdoors, hiking and camping. She was very loyal to her family and friends. Her wonderful kindness and spirit was second to none. She is missed by many.
She is survived by her husband, James M. Burns of Steamboat Springs; brother, Bill Leader, his wife, Terry, and their children, Sarita, Heather, Billy, Caleb and Cody Leader, all of Cheyenne, Wyo.; brother, Ron Leader, of Grand Junction; stepfather, Cameran Dee Hall, of Dunning, Neb.; stepsister, Joleen Hubbard and stepbrother, Kent Hall, both of Riverton, Wyo.; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles in the Denver area.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Maxine Hall; father, Billy Leader; and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Delgado of Denver.
Donna was laid to rest at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens in Cheyenne, Wyo., by her mother. Her husband would like to publicly thank the great group at TIC - Barb, Sue, Shawnna, and of course, Sherie and Scott Ford in their kindness. She loved you all so much. Also Ruth and Chuck Smith of Denver, and the great people at Fish Creek Falls condos - thank you all so much.
There will be a memorial dedication for Donna at noon on Oct. 5, at the Yampa River Botanic Park, in the Grove Garden. Come join.
