Dorothy Lou DuBois passed away June 29, 2013, in her home surrounded by family. Dorothy was born in Hayden on July 28, 1925, to John and Helen Wadge. The family made their home in Mount Harris until Dorothy was 7 years old. The family returned to Hayden where Dorothy attended Union High School. On June 5, 1943, Dorothy was united in marriage to Oren DuBois for 25 years. In 1947, their son John was born. In 1950, the family moved to Montrose. In 1964, son Todd was born. In 1970, following the passing of Oren and with John serving in the Navy, Dorothy and Todd returned to the Yampa Valley, where Dorothy lived out her life in the family home where she was born.
Dorothy was a homemaker for many years. After returning to work, Dorothy was a longtime cook for the Hayden School District. Many “kids” still talk about the cinnamon rolls she served in the cafeteria.
Dorothy enjoyed gardening, reading, needlepoint, flowers and feeding and watching the birds in her backyard. Dorothy cherished her time with family and friends. Her boys took her on numerous car rides. Dorothy was a longtime member of the Hayden Congregational Church.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Oren, brother Jim Wadge and cousin, Lois Terry. She is survived by son John and wife, Lynn, of Emmett, Idaho; son Todd and wife, Tammie, of Hayden; grandchildren Scott DuBois, of Washington; Paige Morgan, of Oregon; April Lopas and Justin DuBois, of Idaho; Jennifer DuBois and Kari Kalar, of Hayden; Kelli Bjorgum, of Steamboat Springs; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was officiated by Pastor Janet Babish at the Hayden Congregational Church on July 6, 2013. Burial followed at the Hayden Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the many people who helped care for Dorothy.
