Former Oak Creek resident Thelma Edna Kyner Foster passed away Sept. 17, 2008, in Salt Lake City. She was 82.
Thelma was born Feb. 5, 1926, in Sharon Springs, Kan., the daughter of Everett and Teresa Kyner. Thelma was raised in Sharon Springs. She graduated from Wallace County High School in 1944.
Thelma loved cooking, making homemade pies, sewing, camping, fishing and hunting, and she was a Denver Broncos fan like her husband and sons. She worked in customer service for many years, serving others and her community. She loved to attend her children and grandchildren's football, basketball, softball, soccer and volleyball games.
Thelma was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. We will miss her unique sense of humor and loving hugs and kisses. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. We will be comforted and have peace in knowing that she is back with her soul mate, and they will live happily ever after.
On Sept. 23, 1944, she married Paul Allen Foster in Goodland, Kan. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary Tuesday. Thelma and Paul lived in Sharon Springs until they moved to Oak Creek in 1957. They later moved to Olathe, and then moved to Salt Lake City in 2006. Thelma was temporarily separated from her dear spouse, Paul Allen Foster, who passed away on July 25, 2008. Today we celebrate her life and the reuniting of Thelma and her beloved husband.
Thelma's surviving family members include two sons and their wives, Allen Eugene and Cindy Foster, of Delta, and David Wayne and Gaye Foster, of Salt Lake City; two daughters and their husbands, Karen Kay and Norm Doolin, of Ogden, Utah, and Pamela Sue and James Shepard, of Livingston, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Harold, Walt and Emory, sisters, Gladys, Juanita and Cleo, and a grandson, Shawn Shepard.
A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Tribune, Kan., with Rev. Les Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery.
Friends may attend a viewing from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Tribune.
