BURT WOLVERTON DIED DEC. 30

Death claimed an early day settler of the Brush Creek valley, when Walter Bertram Wolverton passed away in a Glenwood nursing home Dec. 30 at the age of 86 years.

Mr. Wolverton ranched on Brush Creek for many years coming to the community 65 years ago. He has been retired for the past several years selling his ranch to Williams and Deems, who later sold to Wayne Barstow.

He resided in Eagle since his retirement, until about a year ago, when he entered Mountain View Nursing Home in Glenwood.

Rev. H.C. Moorhead conducted funeral services in the Eagle Methodist Church January 3. The Eagle Masonic Lodge conducted graveside services at Sunset View Cemetery in Eagle.

Pallbearers were J.D. Allen, Hans Larsen, Chas. Stanley, Wm. J. Randall, Ray Chatfield and Harold Rowbotham.

Miller-Bowman Mortuary of Eagle was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wolverton is survived by his wife Anna; two brothers, Guy of San Jose, Calif. and Ralph of Stockton, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Oleson of Eagle and Mrs. May Oleson, Walnut Creek, Calif.; two nieces: Mrs. Gladys Nunn of Gypsum and Mrs. Wilma Brice of Pleasant Hll, Calif.; and two nephews; Robert Olesen of Ealge and Charles Wolverton of San Jose, Calif.

Former member of the Eagle County Colorado School District No. 10 Board; member of Eagle County soil conservation committee; very prominent in general development of Brush Creek Valley for past 40 years, in irrigation, other projects.
