Leela Muhme, of Glenwood Springs, passed away Oct. 21, 2008, at Grace Healthcare. She was 103.
Leela was born March 22, 1905, in Cass County, Mo., to William Wesley and Alice Amelia (Amerine) Chase. She married Edward Muhme on June 1, 1922, in Loveland. They had seven children. Leela dedicated herself to her family, working as a mother and homemaker all her life.
Leela is survived by her sons, Clarence Muhme, of Glenwood Springs, and Henry Muhme of Cañon City; her daughters, June Dortch and Ruth Barber, of Glenwood Springs; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Aguust Muhme; son, Edward Muhme; and daughters, Mary Muhme Grantz and Edna Muhme Weskamp.
A memorial service was held Oct. 25 at the Farnum-Holt Funeral Home in Glenwood Springs, with Rev. Michael Ingersoll officiating. Interment followed at Grand Lake Cemetery.
