Jo Ann Heiserman, age 78, was
called to Heaven on November 1,
2012.
Jo Ann was born on June 17,
1934, in Wichita, Kansas to Helen
and Cyrus Newman. She graduated
from Southwestern College,
in Winfield, Kansas.
Jo Ann was an elementary school teacher, then taught handicapped
children at the Wichita Institute of Logopedics. She retired from
teaching to raise her family. After her family was raised, she
founded and managed, for several years, the very successful adult
reading program for the Grand Junction Library.
Jo Ann cherished her family, friends, and enjoyed traveling. Her
children and grandchildren were the light of her life.
She was married to Larry Heiserman, and they recently celebrated
55 years of marriage. In addition to her husband, Larry, Jo Ann is
survived by her children, Jeffrey (Tammy) Heiserman; Kristin
(Scott) Thomas, and Jennifer (Doug) Schroeder; three brothers,
Jerry Newman, Michael Newman, and Patrick Newman; grandchildren,
Daniel Heiserman, Joseph Hieserman, DJ Schroeder, Cameron
Thomas, Tyler Schroeder, Afton Thomas, and Parker Heiserman.
Graveside services were held on November 5, 2012, at Cochise
Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Hatfield Funeral
Home.
