Margaret Hurlbutt Wolf (Margie), a resident of Winnetka, Ill., for more than 80 years, died peacefully at the Doak Walker Care Center in Steamboat Springs on Dec. 17, 2007. She was 88.
Margie was the daughter of Frederick Lewis and Margaret Chater Hurlbutt of Winnetka and was born in Boston, Mass. (because "west of Boston was too uncivilized of a place to have a baby," according to Mrs. Hurlbutt's mother). However, the young family promptly moved back to Winnetka thereafter. Margie graduated from New Trier High School and attended Lake Forest College before marrying George Dorr Wolf, also of Winnetka, on Aug. 11, 1939.
In addition to raising two children, Frederick and Charles, Margie was a volunteer for many years at Evanston Hospital and a longtime member and supporter of Christ Church and the Northwestern University Settlement House of Chicago.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Dorr Wolf; and her three siblings, Fred, Daniel and Barbara Hurlbutt.
She is survived by her two sons, Charles of Langhorne, Penn., and Frederick and his wife Flora of Steamboat Springs; four grandsons, Fred and Jodi from Boerne, Texas, Jeff and Valerie from Gilbert, Ariz., Dan and Sarah from San Francisco, and Bas from Denver; as well as two great-grandchildren, Cody and Caitlin from Boerne, Texas.
Margie will be interred at a graveside service at the Chapel at Memorial Park in Skokie, Ill., at 10 a.m. Dec. 28, 2007. A Celebration of Margie's Life will be held a St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Steamboat Springs in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to Northwestern Settlement House of Chicago or to the Doak Walker Care Center in care of Yampa Valley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 776090, Steam-
boat Springs, CO 80477.
