Former Steamboat Springs resident Robert "Bob" Edwards died peacefully at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska on Oct. 12, 2007, surrounded by his family. He was 80.
Bob was born Sept. 11, 1927, in Steamboat Springs. He was raised in Kremmling, where his folks owned and operated the West Cafe. In 1946 he joined the Army and served his country honorably.
Bob married the love of his life, Arlene "Kelly" Thompson, on Sept. 11, 1948. Together they raised two daughters, Cheri and Claudia. The family later moved to Granby where they owned and operated Edwards Cafe.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Kelly, in 1992. In 2003, Bob moved to Alaska with his daughter and son-in-law, where he was able to enjoy the lives of his two great grandchildren. Bob was a beloved brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his two daughters, Cheri McDonald and her husband Bill, of Thornton, and Claudia Hering and her husband James of Anchorage, Alaska; brothers George Edwards of Granby and Bill Edwards of Grand Junction; his two grandchildren, Sara Hering and Jeff McDonald and his wife Jenny; two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Madison McDonald, all of Anchorage, Alaska.
Graveside services will be held at Kremmling Cemetery at 1 p.m. Nov. 10, with Father Spencer Carr presiding. Family will greet friends afterwards at Trinity Episcopal Fellowship Hall in Kremmling.
