Former Steamboat Springs resident Dr. William Fredrick "Bill" Dresen of Fraser passed away at home Oct. 8, 2007. He was 70.
He was born on July 13, 1937 in Milwaukee, Wis., to Oswald and Lorraine (Kohl) Dresen. He attended and graduated in 1957 from Marquette University Dental School in Milwaukee and then served three years in the U.S. Navy. He was a dentist for many years in Denver, Winter Park and Steamboat Springs. Bill had resided in the Winter Park-Fraser area for more than 30 years. He was a member of the American Dental Association, a member of the American Collage of Prosthodontists, a member of National Sports Center for the Disabled and a member of St. Bernard's of Montjoux Catholic Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved skiing and assisting the disabled in skiing and enjoyed golfing and boating. Bill especially loved traveling and made an annual trip to Madeline Island on Lake Superior.
Bill is survived by his son, David Dresen and his wife, Robin, of Winter Park; his daughter, Michelle Barnett and her husband, Jeff, of Fort Collins; a brother, James Dresen and his wife, Mary, of St. Paul, Minn.; three grandchildren, Josh, Nicole and Sophia; and by many, many friends.
Bill will be dearly and greatly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial mass was held 10 a.m. Oct. 13, 2007, at Our Lady of the Snow Catholic Church in Granby. Internment will be at a later date on Madeline Island.
