Former Hayden resident Dorsey Donald "Butch" Driscoll Jr. lost his four-year battle with Lymphoma cancer on Aug. 24, 2007, at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Hospital with his family by his side. He was 68.
Butch was born May 5, 1939, at Presbyterian Hospital to Dorsey Donald Sr. and Dorothy Driscoll. He graduated in 1957 from Strasburg High School. He then served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He married Judith White on May 5, 1963. They have two daughters, Deedra "DeeDee" Fisher and DeAnna Driscoll.
In 1984, he married Betty Pratt. They have a son, Dustin Driscoll. They lived in Craw-ford and then Hayden. Just recently, they moved to Fruita.
Butch worked in banking for many years and then in the insurance business.
He also worked for Steamboat Lumber, and his last place of employment was United Supply of the Rockies in Craig.
He was a real outdoorsman. He loved nature and being out in it fishing, hunting, camping, hiking and Jeeping. Even when he was at home, he spent most of his time in his yard working in his garden and flowerbeds.
He was an amazing man and an inspiration to all with his strong spirit and passion for life. He defied many odds through his illness, amazing doctors and everyone who knew him. He had a great sense of humor even when he was so sick.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece and her three children.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Fruita; sister, Virginia Driscoll of Strasburg; daughters DeeDee and her husband, Tony Fisher, of Glenwood Springs and DeAnna Driscoll of San Diego, Calif.; son, Dustin Driscoll of Hayden; grandchildren, Kalee Fisher of Grand Junction, Cameron Fisher of Glenwood Springs and Annabella Cherry of San Diego, Calif.; aunt, Darlene and her partner, Sandy Lancaster, of Bennett; uncle, Ray Zybach, of California; niece, Debra Fehrenbach, and her family of Stratton; Jeff Pitts of Kentucky; and great-niece Brooke Vossen and family of Castle Rock.
