Former South Routt County resident Nancy Lynn Virden died Sept. 9, 2006, at her home in Rock Springs, Wyo., after a lengthy illness. She was 54.
She was born Jan. 18, 1952, in Shattuck, Okla., to William A. and Betty Ray Matthews Holt. She attended schools in Shattuck, Okla., McCoy and Oak Creek. She graduated from Oak Creek High School in 1970. She also attended Mesa State College in Grand Junction.
Nancy married Frank S. Virden on Dec. 19, 1971, in McCoy. She and her husband moved to Rock Springs in 1977, and in 1985 they started their own company, Frank's Construction. He preceded her in death on April 9, 2005.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Elks Lodge. She also was a member of the Baptist Church.
Her interests as a naturalist were wildlife and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; father; and grandfather.
She is survived by her mother, Betty Holt of Rock Springs; grandmother, Anna May Matthews of Shattuck, Okla.; and uncle, Robert E. Matthews.
Gravesides services were held Sept. 15, 2006, at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Rock Springs.
