Reverend George Brayton died November 10, 2012, from Pancreatic
Cancer, in Denver, CO.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Erma (Isley) Brayton, and
four children, Kenneth, Katherine, Keith and Karen, and one sister,
Charlene. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister,
Charlotte.
George’s family lived in Fruita, Colorado through his first grade,
then moved to New Liberty (west of Fruita) where his father farmed.
When he was in the eighth grade, the family moved to the Pear Park
area where he graduated from Central High School in 1949. He at -
tended Mesa Junior College (now called Colorado Mesa University),
graduating with a degree in agriculture.
Pastor George and Erma served under the conservative Baptist
Foreign Mission Society in Senegal, West Africa from 1962 until
1994. He was called as Pastor of Holiday Hills Community Church
until his second retirement in April, 2012.
George wished to be cremated and will have his remains buried in
the Fruita Cemetery.
A memorial service was held at Holiday Hills Community Church.
Memorial donations may be sent to World Venture, 1501 West
Mineral Ave., Littleton, CO 80120, with a memo for George Brayton
Memorial Fund, to be used to train village pastors.
