Robert J. Rasnick, 63, of Bond, died on Sept. 24 in Denver.

Bob was born in Atlanta on Oct. 16, 1949, and attended St. Joseph Catholic School from first grade through high school. He attended Georgia Tech on a football scholarship before serving in the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals of honor, including the Purple Heart.

After the war, he chose to live in Colorado, where he loved the great outdoors. He worked in Northwest Colorado on the Craig Power Plant construction and then in the coal mines. He started his own successful business, Freedom Enterprises Inc., in 1993. He was a member of the VFW, where he served in many capacities including commander. Bob also served on the Oak Creek Town Board and was a police commissioner. His main hobbies were reading and astronomy.

Bob is survived by his wife of 39 years, Melinda; his sons, Garrett Rasnick, David and Michael Nation; his mother, Marione Rasnick; brothers David, John and Tom; and his sister Marie Fetzer. A memorial service was held on Oct. 12 in Oak Creek. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s name to the Stevens Johnsons Syndrome Foundation.
