Edwin F. Messing, Jr., of Craig, died Nov. 27, 2009.
Ed was born Sept. 6, 1938, to Martha (Craig) and Edwin F. Messing, Sr., in Lincoln, Neb.
Growing up, Ed’s family traveled the country, and he ended up in Colorado, where he met the love of his life, Deanna Donner.
After receiving his high school diploma, Ed joined the Navy and was assigned to an aircraft carrier. Ed and Deanna were married June 23, 1958, in Lakewood.
They had two daughters, Erin and Kelley.
After leaving the Navy, the family lived in Westminster, where Ed worked many jobs to support his family. Eventually, he returned to school and trained to become an electrical technician.
In 1968, the family moved to Craig, where Ed pursued a job as a TV repairman. Two years later, Ed purchased the business and ran his own TV repair and electronic sales store for the next 15 years. When this business closed, Ed took a position with the Colorado Department of Transportation shop as an electrician.
He worked with CDOT until he retired in November 2002.
Ed was active in the Faith Lutheran Church and a former member of the Lions Club.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father, uncle, and grandfather, and is survived by his wife, Deanna; daughters Erin (Jeff) Miller and Kelley Davis; five grandchildren, Donovan, Trevor and Heather Davis and Trent and Emily Miller, all of Craig; sisters Linda Messing, of San Diego, Lori Messing, of Grand Junction, Sandra (David) Geer, of Grand Junction, and brother Michael Messing, of Italy.
A memorial service took place Dec. 1, 2009, at the Faith Lutheran Church, followed by burial in the Craig Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church in Craig.
