Leon Martin Heiman passed away July 11, 2009, at Columbine West Hospice in Fort Collins. He was 85.
He was born March 7, 1924, in Gloversville, N.Y., and attended Ohio State University where he met Jewell Garson, of Akron, Ohio. They married Feb. 15, 1948.
He served in WW II as a gunner for the U.S. Army.
He was a third-generation automobile dealer in upstate N.Y. After many years, Leon and Jewell moved to Steamboat Springs. After 20 years in Steamboat, they moved to Fort Collins where Leon was very active in Kiwanis. He introduced the Christmas tree ornament program for the local Kiwanis as a fundraiser that benefits the local community.
Leon is survived by his wife, Jewell; daughter Carol Price, of Denver and California; son Neal and wife, Joan, of Fort Collins; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
